Violated

Hey all.  So…this happened:
10411312_761517197720_6435378793255068156_n

You might’ve seen it on the blog’s Facebook page or Instagram.  I have no clue who that person is and I highly doubt he/she is the Dezeree Corvello he/she is claiming to be.  I do know that they have been using pictures they’ve stolen off of our blog and some from Instagram to create a life that is not theirs for the past two years!!  Please, if you’re on Facebook, go and report this madness!  You can do so by going to this persons page (just search the name) and clicking the … button next to the message button, then reporting them for claiming to be someone you know - me.

I found out about this imposter Saturday and it really put a huge damper on my whole day.  I questioned blogging, sharing, and even being on social media at all!  I’m sure if you’re a mother or even human you can understand!  To see pictures of my family on someone else’s page as someone else’s kids and read their comments made me sick to my stomach and so angry at the same time.  I really love blogging but to have someone take the fun out of it really stinks.

I’ve been questioning over the past two days whether to continue sharing my life with the virtual world, whether I just need to seclude my kids and myself from social media altogether, or whether I should just report them to whomever I can and take a break until the whole thing blows over.  What would you do?  Especially you bloggers out there who willingly share your kids on your virtual home.  What do you think?

Then there’s the issue of Facebook friends.  This ‘Dezeree’ actually had friends on Facebook!  How do you friend someone you don’t know?!  I’ve always had a fairly high standard when it comes to accepting friends – if I don’t feel comfortable dialing their number for a chat, they’re not on my Facebook list.  I see people with 1000, 2000, 3000+ friends and, seriously?  You know all those people?  Maybe I’m just not at the most popular end of society but for real people, guard your friend lists.  Know who your friends are, each and every single one, especially if you share a lot of your life on the book.

Anyway, end of rant.  Please go report this person if you’re on Facebook and go through your friends lists.  And then say a prayer for this ‘Dezeree’ person because in order to want to create a fake life, you must not have a great one of your own.  How sad.

  2. So unbelievable, what a sad individual he/she must be. I don't know what I would do if I were you, but I did see that you're watermarking your pictures now (sad you have to do that) and that might be one way to go. So sorry this has happened, I'm very glad you're on social media + blog!

  3. Gross - I am so sorry this happened to you. I often wonder how these people have friends, too. Two of my friends have had the same thing happen to them. I hope it all gets sorted out. I reported her on Facebook :)

  5. That's just plain sick and I can't understand it. I just think: desperate or pathetic. I will report them when I get home as we can not access FB from work.

  6. Oh my gosh! That would be so violating! I looked her up and she has your pictures of when you were pregnant and then a different girl in her wedding photos. My guess would be another persons stolen as well.

    1. A friend looked into the other pictures and there are at least four people she's stolen from. Unlucky for her, they've all been contacted.

  7. How awful! I don't blame you for wanting to take a serious social media hiatus.

    1. I'm so on the fence about it Sarah! I love blogging so much and social media is some days my only connection to the outside world while chasing around my little bits, so to not be able to release my creative energy and be a part of that community I think would be so hard! But my kids are my lifeblood and first priority so when is enough? So hard...

  8. This is awful!! I will definitely report them ... can I ask how you found out these accounts existed?? I don't know what I would do, but I hate even more the idea it may be happening without my knowing it. :(

  9. Btw there is a more accurate category to report them with: "Using False Info to Represent themself" and then there is a category for using someone else's photos. It appears that it doesn't actually get sent to Facebook unless YOU report it; I just have the option to send you a message. :(

  10. So.... will you share your instructions on how to add a watermark to your photos? Totally appreciate it if you would. Also, will you go back and watermark all your old pix?

    1. I will! I'm working on a post to hopefully have up in the next day or two! Not sure about watermarking my old pics. I really should but it's going to take a lot of time and that's a luxury these days. Maybe little by little...

  12. I'm so sorry! I just looked through all of her photos, and it looks like you are round 2 or 3 of her taking pictures of someone else and using them as her own. There are much older pictures of other kids and pregnancy. I hope you can get her account removed soon!

  14. yikes! i remember reading about this same problem on kristen howerton's blog-rage against the minivan. this sort of thing is one of the top reasons i haven't blogged in a long time. i've gone back and forth with all the security issues and i just can't come to a peace about it : (

  15. I've had similar thoughts and fears (obviously, I took almost a year's break from blogging, ha!), but to me it's coming down to faith over fear. My biggest concern in this whole world is my children's safety, but the best thing I can do for them is to pray my heart out and put them in God's hands. There is so much trash on the internet, so much negativity, I almost feel like we need to put up a fight! We need to publish good, we need to spread good. I don't want the fact that bad happens to make me live in fear. Not when God is greater. I still struggle in my heart over this issue, but every time I feel peace about I'm full of faith that with prayer all will be well. And every time I'm fearful about what to do I'm worrying about the what if's. But then, I've never found someone using my own pics as there own! I don't even know! You've handled it with grace.
Just my rambling, random thoughts, ha!
